A revolution is sweeping through the remote sensing world at the moment and Google Earth Engine is at the center of it. We have hopped on board and have developed a proficiency in Java Script within the Google Earth Engine environment. This affords us the ability to perform complex analyses on global spectral imagery in a fraction of the time it used to take with tools like ArcGIS and QGIS. Some of the applications we have worked on include:
- Rangeland degradation monitoring
- National land cover classification and change assessment
- Crop cycle monitoring and yield prediction
- Soil erosion risk
- Coastal fog incidence and hind-casting
- Fresh- and salt-water quality assessment
- Terrain analysis
- Identifying areas encroached by woody plants
